Our Story

Ken’s Auto Center has been a trusted name in auto repair since it was founded in 1981 by Ken Poellauer. Ken’s passion for cars began in high school and followed him throughout his life. During his service in the Vietnam War, he was assigned to drive First Aid trucks because of his mechanical aptitude and vehicle knowledge. After his military service, Ken ventured into the world of professional auto racing, working as a tire man for NASCAR driver Frank Warren. Although he loved the racing scene, the constant travel led him to return home—where he decided to focus on what he did best: auto repair.

That dedication to automotive excellence lives on today under the leadership of Theresa Fairbank. Theresa started working at Ken’s Auto Center in high school, initially helping clean the shop. She quickly progressed to oil changes and, under Ken’s mentorship, became a skilled mechanic and later, Shop Manager. She worked alongside Ken for 33 years, learning every facet of the business. When Ken passed, he entrusted the shop to Theresa, knowing she would uphold the values and standards he built over decades. Today, Theresa continues Ken’s legacy by maintaining high-quality service, honest work, and a customer-first approach.

What truly sets Ken’s Auto Center apart is the way we care—not just for cars, but for people. We’re proud of the feedback we receive from our customers, who tell us they appreciate our clear communication, honest explanations, transparency in pricing, and our willingness to accommodate busy schedules or emergency situations. In celebration of our 40th anniversary, we were honored with “Ken’s Auto Center Day” by Mayor Burns.
